Empowering youth
to rise

The Build My Spirit program is the cornerstone of our organization. We believe in empowering young people by fostering open dialogue around relevant issues. Our science-based education approach is fundamental to self-discovery and purpose.

We use old wisdom and modern ideas to create programs that keep youth healthy, self-aware, and connected to their communities — equipping them to thrive in existing systems while working toward dismantling inequalities.

Nature & Earth Connection Garden science, ecology, and environmental stewardship

What youth experience

MAET transforms our certified farmers' markets and waterfront parks into early learning ecosystems for BIPOC youth ages 3–17 — where children explore nature and science through activities that protect and preserve the earth and humankind, powered by community.

Garden-Based Learning
Ecological science exploring energy, materials, life, and change through hands in the soil. Youth grow, tend, and harvest — building responsibility and wonder alongside science literacy.
Kemetic Yoga
Movement and mindfulness rooted in ancestral practice and cultural identity.
Cultural Storytelling
Ancestral stories and traditional drumming connecting youth to their roots.
Beach Cleanups & Water Science
Stewardship in action while learning the science of our coasts and waterways.
Astronomy & Night Sky
Eyes on the stars — connecting cosmic cycles to ecological and cultural knowledge.
Wellness & Coping Tools
Science-based mental wellness tools, self-discovery, and community support systems.
Cultural Food Education
Connecting ancestral foods to nutrition, community, and the markets youth help run.
Leadership & Purpose
Problem-solving, critical thinking, and community building to grow young leaders.
Handcraft & Art
Creative expression through traditional and contemporary handcraft, connecting culture and creativity.
